Place des Arts and the OSM celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Maison symphonique de Montréal
On September 11 and 12, 2021, Place des Arts and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Maison symphonique de Montréal with a series of ten free short concerts and four discussions. Discover the exceptional acoustics of the Maison symphonique and enjoy an incomparable musical experience with various ensembles from the OSM, a string quartet and brass quintet from the Orchestre Métropolitain, the chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy and the Orchestre Classique de Montréal.
Mission
The objects of the Société de la Place des Arts de Montréal are to operate a business for the diffusion of the performing arts, to administer the Place des Arts de Montréal and the Amphithéâtre Fernand-Lindsay in Joliette, and to establish the artistic programming at the Maison symphonique for organizations other than the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. These activities are to be conducted, more specifically, so as to provide a residence for major arts organizations and improve access to the various types of performing arts, and promote arts and culture in Québec. Place des Arts celebrates 60 years
Place des Arts, the largest performing arts centre in Canada, is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The inauguration—on September 21, 1963—of La Grande Salle (now known as Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier) signalled the start of an extraordinary step forward in arts promotion and artistic development that transformed the cultural landscape in Quebec and its metropolis.
Festival de Lanaudière
Founded in 1978, today the Festival de Lanaudière ranks as one of the North American leaders in classical music. Maison symphonique Rental
Inaugurated in 2011, the Maison symphonique is a classical music hall built to the most exacting international standards of natural acoustics, stage design and architecture. Its perfect visibility and immersive intimacy give audiences an exceptional audio and visual experience.
Histoires sans paroles – Harmonium symphonique Trilogy
CHAPTER II • WITH THE ORCHESTRE SYMPHONIQUE OF MONTREAL Histoires sans paroles – Harmonium symphonique is three performance experiences, each unique and distinct so as to connect with every taste. Arranged by Simon Leclerc, all concerts of the Montreal trilogy - Chapter 2 - will be interpreted by the Orchestre symphonique of Montréal (OSM), the guitarist Sylvain Quesnel and the Chœur des jeunes de Laval, under conductor Dina Gilbert. Singers Kim Richardson and Luce Dufault will also each appear onstage for one song.

Future Stars’ Grand Premiere
2023 Edition On June 6, the 12th edition of the Future Stars’ Grand Premiere took place under the artistic direction of the virtuoso cellist Stéphane Tétreault.

The Orchestre Philharmonique du Québec was previously named Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil.
Orchestre classique de Montréal
The Orchestre Classique de Montréal, formerly the McGill Chamber Orchestra, was founded in 1939 by violinist, conductor and composer Alexander Brott and his wife Lotte Brott. The OCM quickly became one of the most established chamber orchestras in Canada, boasting tours in five continents, multiple recordings, and regular appearances on radio and television.
Orchestre Métropolitain
The Orchestre Métropolitain, composed mainly of musicians educated in Québec, is devoted to broadening the reach of classical music from home and afar. Under the artistic direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin since 2000, the Orchestre Métropolitain’s renown has steadily grown—in Montréal, in Québec, in Canada and internationally.
Production ONJ
L'Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal (ONJ) is an orchestral ensemble dedicated to pushing back the boundaries of today's orchestral jazz. A variable-geometry ensemble of 10 to 45 musicians, ranging from the Tentet to the Jazz Studio Orchestra, it features wind, string and percussion instruments, depending on the repertoire. Performing jazz, pop, world and film music, the ONJ has shared the stage with artists such as Diane Dufresne, Ranee Lee, Kim Richardson, Karen Young, Laura Anglade, Marie-Christine Depestre, Ingrid Jensen, Terence Blanchard, Bendik Hofseth, Aaron Parks, Mathias Rüegg, Sylvester Uzoma Onyejiaka II.

Opéra de Montréal
Founded in 1980, the Opéra de Montréal is one of Place des Arts’ three resident companies, and the biggest francophone opera house in North America. Every year, it presents four to five operas, concerts by its Atelier lyrique, and a range of democratization events. The Opéra creates its works in the Place des Arts rehearsal halls before performing them in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier.
Governance
The Société de la Place des Arts de Montréal is a state-owned enterprise reporting to the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec. As such, it operates a business for the diffusion of the performing arts and administers any other establishment whose management is entrusted to it by the Government and organizes art related activities designed to develop public awareness and increase attendance. The Esplanade is a vast outdoor space that connects all of Place des Arts’ show venues. It’s an immense public gathering space at the heart of the Quartier des spectacles. Ticket Donation Policy
Each year, the Société de la Place des Arts de Montréal (the “Société”) contributes to our collective vitality and well-being by supporting various organizations in achieving their financial goals. The Société supports these organizations by providing them with donations in the form of tickets to performances. The choice of shows is at the Société’s discretion.

Francos de Montréal
Every summer, the Francos de Montréal shows us that French-language music is in excellent health! Since it was founded in 1989, the festival, managed by Équipe Spectra, has presented more than 250 shows a year, including nearly 70 shows in venues and 180 free outdoor events and concerts.

Montreal/New Musics
As an international biennale, the Montréal/New Musics Festival (MNM) provides a crucial forum for new music. Concerts, shows and activities happen at a frenzied pace for ten days during the months of February and March in Montréal. Presented since 2003, over the years the MNM has become North America’s biggest gathering for contemporary music.
