Storytelling

Prince Canari
A wonderful tale for 3-to-8-year-olds

Welcome to the vast forest of tales… where anything can happen. Once upon a time, there was a canary yellow prince to whom love gave wings. Making his way along the trails on his adventures, he meets a prickly porcupine, a wolf who sings to the moon, a gluttonous hare, and a brave-hearted princess. Eveline Ménard serves as the guide through this interactive tale for younger children. Performer: Eveline Ménard (storyteller)

Wednesday, March 6 to Saturday, March 9, 2024
2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm

Duration: 20 minutes
In Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme of Place des Arts

Ongoing Activities, from 2 pm to 5 pm

Circus Workshop

This workshop will give younger children a chance to try their hand at tightrope walking, juggling, and acrobatics—alongside professional guides from the École de cirque de Verdun.

Duration: 20 minutes
In the Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme at Place des Arts

Workshop with the Cuistots solidaires

Roll up your sleeves and lend a hand as you help prepare bags of oatmeal, chocolate, and cranberry cookies with La Tablée des Chefs—back this year by popular demand! The bags will then be given to a local organization that helps feed people affected by food insecurity: Passages, Centre d'amitié autochtone de Montréal, Dispensaire diététique de Montréal and Le Sac à dos

In the Salon Urbain at Place des Arts

Origami Workshop

Guided by the workshop leaders, children and their parents will get to make an origami bird, a key element of the Prince Canari show.

Duration: 20 minutes
In the Salon Urbain at Place des Arts

Screen Mosaic

Discover two digital works on the Place des Arts screen mosaic. You will see Conte à rebonds, a work that has fun with the Earth’s forces and gravity. A luminous, colourful, and kinetic work by Doki (Jean-Christophe Henry, Josselin Bey, Stefano Gemmellaro).

You can also see Murmuration de corridor, a choreographic and cinematographic work by Montreal contemporary skating company Le Patin Libre, created by filmmaker Frédéric Barrette.
