Place des Arts - July 21, 2017

Place des Anges and Formula E

On July 29 and 30, get ready for the exceptional presentation of the Place des Anges event—part of the festivities surrounding Montreal’s 375th anniversary—on the Parterre, right in front of the entrance to the Place des Arts parking lot.

Place des Anges is a free event bringing the rich programming of We’re Acting Out! to a wonderful close, featuring acrobat-angels performing under a flurry of millions of white feathers. Cast your eyes to the sky and let the magical atmosphere of this aerial ballet carry you away!

On the same weekend, the electric-powered cars of Formula E will bring you a whole new auto racing experience: fewer decibels, but way more adrenaline. This will be the international race event’s grand finale this season.

Also, on Sunday July 30, on the Vidéotron stage at the Just for Laughs Festival, see Kool & the Gang! The legendary band will be joining the party and burning up the stage with its biggest hits!

In our performance halls, the Just for Laughs and Juste pour Rire festivals will be in full swing: Sugar Sammy's International Gala, Jane Krakowski Gala, Ryan Hamilton, Vincent C, Olivier Martineau, Howie Mandel Gala, Judd Apatow, Laverne Cox Gala, Lilly Singh Gala, Joel McHale Gala, Trevor Noah, MozART Group, and Debra DiGiovanni!

This all makes for quite a festive weekend in the Quartier des spectacles, so please plan your travel accordingly.

Due to these events, the entrance to the Place des Arts parking lot will exceptionally be closed to vehicles as of 9 pm on July 28, 29, and 30, 2017.

The exit on Saint-Urbain Street will remain open at all times.

As soon as Saint-Urbain Street is reopened (which, we hope, will be around midnight), monthly pass holders will once again be permitted to enter the parking lot. Several streets around Place des Arts will also be closed.

The following streets will be closed to vehicular and bicycle traffic on July 28, 29, and 30, from 7 pm to midnight: De Maisonneuve Boulevard, from Jeanne-Mance to Clark; and Clark Street, from Ontario to St. Catherine. Saint-Urbain Street, from Ontario to St. Catherine, will be closed as of 9 pm.

The metro (Place-des-Arts station) is an excellent alternative for getting to your destination! Public transport will be free on Saturday and Sunday!

Remember that the City of Montreal reserves the right to modify closing times at the last minute. More information: city of Montreal
