Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the Simone Young Conducts Bruckner concert scheduled on April 9, 2021, has been cancelled. Ticket holders will be reimbursed directly.
Known for her masterful interpretations of Mahler and Bruckner, Australian conductor Simone Young steps on the podium for this concert dedicated to two German Romantic heavyweights. And celebrated for her warm and radiant voice, Canadian singer Adrianne Pieczonka’s talent is showcased here in the tragic Wesendonck Lieder.
There’s no better way to live in the moment than to listen to Bruckner’s Symphony No. 6. While it’s a monumental and powerful piece, it rewards careful listening through its subtle details. Wagner’s love songs, set to poetry written by his mistress, are also on the program. At once joyful and distraught, the songs lay the foundation for what became the opera Tristan und Isolde.
