Pianist Zoltán Fejérvári presents some of the most evocative works by Schumann and Bach. Bach’s Capriccio laments the departure of the composer’s elder brother, who was leaving to serve the Swedish King: the movements describe his friends’ efforts to dissuade him and their eventual farewells. Schumann depicts scenes from the forest – home to both the vigour of the hunter and the delicate dialogues of flowers.

J. S. Bach, Capriccio in B-flat major, “On the Departure of a Most Beloved Brother,” BWV 992
Schumann, Waldszenen [Forest Scenes], op. 82
Schumann, Novelletten, op. 21: no. 1 in F major
