Hors les murs Place des Arts

From September 17 to 27, the fall edition of Hors les murs is taking place on the Esplanade of the Place des Arts. Over the course of two weeks, you will be able to take part in outdoor dance workshops and creative activities with professional artists.

At lunchtime, get moving during our Midis dansés dance events, featuring a series of 4 jazz training workshops—each 45 minutes in length—led by an instructor from Les Grands Ballets’ dance Studios. The series is adapted to suit all levels, with exercises designed to be easy to follow.

In the evening, 6 Soirées dansantes thematic dance workshops feature an introduction to various styles of dance: swing and blues, waltz, cumbia, Scottish, flamenco, and West African. You can then practice your newly acquired skills on the dancefloor, swaying to the sounds of a musical group or DJ!

On the weekend, Fêtes famille family celebrations bring together young and old for a series of 3 workshops (dance, storytelling, and crafts)—each at 30 minutes in duration—followed by some time in a play area (bowling, chalk drawing, hoops, skipping ropes, and crafts). You’ll also have the opportunity to meet Phinéas and Dahlia for some added fun!

This year, as space is limited, registration is required for the Soirées dansantes and Fêtes famille events. Choose the tab for your event of interest and make a reservation. A $5 deposit is required to reserve your spot on the ground (one person or couple per spot for the dance evenings, and a maximum of four people for the family celebrations); your deposit will be reimbursed after the event. However, if you fail to attend, your deposit will be donated to the Fondation de la Place des Arts.
