Talk followed by a workshop-show

Tanveer Alam, an accomplished dancer specializing in kathak, invites us to follow him on a journey around this classical Indian dance style, with its pure and narrative character. In choreographing a show presenting a fusion of kathak and kuchipudi, another classical Indian dance style, he masters both the theoretical and practical frameworks of his discipline. He will tell us the story of this dance style and of the Indo-Persian influences that transformed it, relying on top-rate demonstrations and performances.

The audience is invited to take part in the exchanges in this hybrid event crossing between workshop-lecture, master class and show. It fits in with the thematic series of the 19th Festival du Monde Arabe de Montréal: Songs of mutants, on the shores of Gibraltar.
