A show about folly and friendship
World renowned clown, juggler, and comic acrobat, Jamie Adkins, stumbles onstage, desperately trying to become the man he imagines himself to be. In his new show A Fool’s Errand, Adkins uses his unique blend of circus arts, acrobatic skill and unguarded physical comedy to explore the what-ifs along the path of life, accompanied by a charismatic tuba player.
The first collaboration between Adkins and, innovative tuba player and composer, Julie Houle, A Fools Errand is ultimately a show about the transformative power of friendship. Through Houle's masterful use of her instrument, the soundtrack ranges from fanfare to experimental.
Checking off his list, Adkins wrecks havoc with his deft, yet daft juggling and shares a childhood memory by leaping into more and more pairs of underpants. As he test the laws of gravity, we are reminded that the path to success is never a straight line. In fact it is sometimes a wobbly rope.
A delicate balance of chaos and control, loneliness and companionship, A Fools Errand, is more about the art of perseverance than the achievement of success.
