In a show combining refinement and innovation, Shahriyar Jamshidi, accompanied by his associate Sina Khosravi, makes distant echoes from the heart of Mesopotamia resound from the foot of the Zagros mountains in Iran to the peak of Mount Ararat.
With his kamancheh, a plucked string instrument among the oldest in the Orient, he soars into a frantic dialogue with the Persian percussions to the rhythm of melodies that are sometimes melancholic and sometimes intense and fiery. The duo weaves a unique musical fresco illustrating the beauty, diversity and richness of the Kurdish heritage.
A native of Iranian Kurdistan, Shahriyar Jamshidi has devoted his artistic career to preserving and conveying the Kurdish musical heritage. Since settling in Canada, he has searched constantly for new musical languages. A rare moment to discover and savour one of the most refined of musical styles!
