Youth and family program
For more than 40 years, affordably priced shows and free activities for kids, presented for the most part during the Place des Arts junior show series, have reached nearly 5,000 kids a year. Some fifteen shows are given for kids aged three and up in a wide range of performing arts disciplines, including music, circus, theatre and dance.
The shows are often paired with activities and facilitation aiming to introduce kids to the performing arts. These activities are led by Gaspart and Dahlia, the two characters who represent our youth series.
Bringing young people into contact with the performing arts has been one of Place des Arts’ priorities for a very long time. Starting from the principle that to love art and include it in your life, you first need to be aware of it, Place des Arts has always programmed family-oriented shows and activities. The choice to enjoy art is not innate. This is why we prioritize making diverse forms of performing art and artists accessible, encouraging young people’s early exposure to culture, and creating opportunities for enriching artistic experiences.
A few examples of our youth and family programming
- For over 40 years now, the Place des Arts junior Sons et brioches series has been inviting 3- to 7-year-olds and their families to attend shows at Piano Nobile, with entertainment and breakfast included, at a very affordable price.
- With our numerous free activities and our show for 5- to 12-year-olds, winter break is a fun-filled time for both parents and kids!
