During School Break at Place des Arts : let’s create, let’s move, let’s play

Montreal, January 30, 2023 – From March 1st to 4th, Place des Arts is inviting families to come enjoy free arts and culture activities during school break! On the program this year: an introduction to the circus arts, storytelling and musical performances, craft workshops, an interactive installation inspired by Indigenous tales and legends, a rest stop where families can relax together, and a solidarity-driven culinary activity offered by La Tablée des Chefs. Fans of digital art, young and old, will also be able to admire a colourful work on the mosaic of screens in the vast indoor public space at Place des Arts. It’s a perfect opportunity to bring out one’s inner artist!

Introduction to the Circus Arts

Professional guides from the École de cirque de Verdun will give children the opportunity to gain some self-confidence through an introduction to the circus arts: tightrope walking, juggling, and acrobatics workshops. (Duration: 20 minutes)

Craft Workshops
Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme

These workshops will give children a chance to work on crafts inspired by tales and legends, and then take their creations home with them.

Fabuloscopes
Place des Arts Exhibition Room

Enter a world of Indigenous tales and legends with these mechanisms inspired by zoetropes and praxinoscopes—the ancestors of animated film—with an added touch of modern technology. Presented by MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE.

Solidarity-driven culinary activity
Salon urbain at Place des Arts

New this year, La Tablée des Chefs offers a unifying culinary activity for a family experience of solidarity. Participants will be invited to make dry soup pouches that will be given to local organizations, providing some comfort to those who need it most. Young and old can then enjoy a nice hot soup themselves.
An area specially designed for families will include a cloackroam and parking for strollers
