From its modest beginnings at Théatre Saint-Denis in 1983 to worldwide acclaim, Just for Laughs has risen to become the uncontested world champion of comedy. Taking Montréal by storm for two weeks, it invades the halls and streets of the city. Québec echoes with laughter as local and international programming brings together the biggest comics from all generations.
Just for Laughs is synonymous with comedy!
Over the years, it has grown to include a number of disciplines. In addition to solo shows and its classic galas, the event now features musical comedy, theatre and all manner of street performances.
With this reinvented programming, all of Québec laughs out loud at more than 600 events over two weeks featuring laugh merchants from near and far. Over its more than 40-year history, the festival has forged a unique bond with Montréal and its Place des Arts.
