For her recital, Sophia Liu has chosen to introduce us to the music of prodigious composers Tchaikovsky, Liszt and Chopin.

Born in 2008, she began studying the piano at 4. She has participated in various competitions and won numerous awards, including the First Prize at the Kobe Piano Competition in Japan, the First Prize at the International Chinese Piano Composition Competition in Hangzhou, the Second Prize at the Canadian Music Competition, the First Prize at the McGill University Concerto Competition, the First Prize at the Chopin International Competition in Hartford, United States, and the Philadelphia International Piano Competition. 

In 2020, she was the youngest participant to be admitted to the Gina Bachauer Junior International Piano Competition. More recently, in 2022, she was awarded the First Prize in Category A at the 18th Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany, and in 2023, she won the First Prize at the Thomas & Evon Cooper International Competition in United States.
