Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca return to Montreal with an all-new production inspired by the works of Francisco Goya!

Flamenco in its purest form! That is what Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca will be offering their audience at the Canadian premiere of Searching for Goya, for a single performance.

Goya’s spirit is revived on stage through a series of vignettes of an intensity rarely seen in flamenco. Combining force with agility, nine world-class dancers, singers and musicians display perfect synergy in this production that pushes the boundaries of the Andalusian art form, inspired by the works of the painter Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (1746–1828), to whom we are indebted for the set of etchings entitled La Tauromaquia (1816).

Under the artistic direction of Martín Santangelo and his lifelong partner Soledad Barrio, Searching for Goya delves into the history of 18th and 19th century Spain through a series of vignettes brimming with poetry and hypnotic charm. A journey back in time through an exquisite blend of vocals, guitar and dance performance, the hallmark of Noche Flamenca.
