This is an evening to remember: the return to Quebec, after more than ten years, of one of the greatest baritones of his generation, acclaimed on the world’s greatest stages for his velvet voice, dramatic flair, and the penetrating depth of his interpretations—nowhere more authoritatively than in the German lied, his repertoire of predilection. Matthias Goerne’s program is devoted entirely to Schubert, and marks the second concert in the country of Alexandre Kantorow, the prodigious pianist and winner the most recent Tchaikovsky Competition.
