A series of brief portraits set to the stage, with eight protagonists chosen for their unique lives and their original storytelling. Individuals from very different backgrounds (none are actors) who form many ties between them. Their voices, recorded live, magnified with enveloping sound design and coupled with their presence on stage, preserve the strength and authenticity of spontaneous words that cannot be performed again.
With Pas perdus | documentaires scéniques (Steps Lost and Found: Stage Documentaries), Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette and Émile Proulx-Cloutier explore our relationship to memory, transmission, language, what we carry inside us, and the room we make for joy. Each stage documentary creates the portrait of a human voice in all its individuality and prompts us to rethink how we look at individuals, settings, and histories.
This unique show “with its incredible humanity” (ICI Première) was created at the Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui in spring 2022, before touring in 2023, with stops at the TNM and the Diamant, drawing a large audience.
