The Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal (ONJ) is delighted to welcome back Norwegian composer, saxophonist, singer and jazz bandleader Bendik Hofseth. This concert in collaboration with the OFF Jazz Festival will be the occasion to launch an album of his vocal and instrumental works, arranged for the ONJ by Jean-Nicolas Trottier and captured live at Studio TD in 2018. For this exceptional occasion, the ONJ will be made up of 26 musicians, including 8 winds, 13 strings and a rhythm section.
When Bendik Hofseth came to New York in 1987, replacing the great saxophonist Michael Brecker in the Steps Ahead group, it came as a surprise to many. A young man from Lørenskog, Norway, arriving in the jazz capital of New York and joining one of America's most renowned jazz bands!
