Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Place des Arts has suspended all shows and other public activities until further notice. However, beyond this suspension of activities, certain productions have been obliged to postpone or cancel their shows. The Notre Dame de Paris show — scheduled from August 12 to 20, 2020 — has been postponed until August 10 to 18, 2022. The smash-hit French musical returns to Montreal for a special serie of performances, after an outstanding success touring in Quebec, for Notre Dame de Paris’ 20th anniversary. The tour continues, after 23 countries worldwide in nine languages over the last 20 years.
Based on the acclaimed novel by Victor Hugo, Notre Dame de Paris tells the story of the cathedral bell-ringer Quasimodo and his desperate love for the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda. This stage spectacular features an international ensemble of singers, dancers, acrobats and musicians, as well as unforgettable music composed by Richard Cocciante, with lyrics by Luc Plamondon.
