Ravel’s Basque heritage on his mother’s side proved to be decisive in his life and work. Alexandre Da Costa and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Québec have chosen to set the composer’s famous Boléro and luminous Alborada del gracioso within a repertoire showcasing Basque culture and its ramifications. Here is a chance to discover the txistu, a Basque flute traditionally played along with a small drum, featuring the artful soloist Garikoitz Mendizabal. Experience the Basque pianist Josu Okiñena’s performance of a rarely heard concerto!
