Go outside on the Esplanade on your lunch break and dance among professional artists. Lunchtime dances features a series of five 45-minute free dance workshops, adapted to all levels and free. A public performance will conclude the series on September 23 at 12:30 pm.
Featured dance style: Bhangra—a festive Indian dance form originally performed by farmers to celebrate a good harvest. You’ll feel the same spirit of celebration and raw energy in this introductory lesson by Montreal’s official Bhangra group, Power Bhangra, led by Indian dance specialist Harshjot Nijher.
The L’Art en soi Festival features six festive “Soirées dansantes”—dance evenings—with introductory lessons on various styles of dance, live music, and DJs: samba, disco and waacking, Guinean dance, Bollywood, Latin dance, and country. Five “Midis dansés”—lunchtime dances—are also on the program to get you moving at midday! It’s a date, on the Esplanade at Place des Arts, from September 15 to 24!
