Beethoven’s Symphony no. 7, sometimes referred to as “Apotheosis of the Dance” is propelled by mesmerizing rhythmic momentum. Its second movement speaks straight to the heart and stands as one of the finest pieces of the symphonic repertoire. Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma, the OSM’s brilliant guest artist during its Tour of the Americas, performs Bartók’s First Violin Concerto, a rhapsodic, lyrical work that the composer himself never heard performed during his lifetime.
