Based on the observations of ancient astronomers and of astrologists from all eras, Holst’s The Planets is an imagining of the seven other planets in our solar system: Mars, the Bringer of War; Venus, the Bringer of Peace; Mercury, the Winged Messenger; Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity; Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age; Uranus, the Magician; and Neptune, the Mystic. Each movement is imbued with a unique ambience and expressiveness that sparks emotions. Holst’s work has influenced the greatest composers of film music, including John Williams (Star Wars, Harry Potter and many others).
