For her first appearance with the OSM, New Zealander Tianyi Lu conducts a program dedicated to Persian culture: Persian Trilogy by Behzad Ranjbaran, and the world premiere of Ainsi chantait Simorgh by Katia Makdissi-Warren, inspired by the bird of legend perched in the Tree of Knowledge. Then, follow the character of Scheherazade from One Thousand and One Nights, brilliantly depicted by the violin in Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzlingly colourful orchestral suite.
