Erich Korngold is one of the last proponents of the school of Viennese Romanticism. In exile in the United States after fleeing Nazism, he composed this sweepingly lyrical Violin Concerto between 1937 and 1945. Violinist James Ehnes will join the OSM and Rafael Payare in an impassioned concert that opens with one of Wagner’s most exquisite works: Siegried-Idyll

Wagner, Siegfried-Idyll, tone poem, WWV 103 (18 min)
Korngold, Violin Concerto in D major, op. 35 (26 min)
