Originally a pianist, Nicolas Ellis is now the Artistic Director, conductor and founder of the Orchestre de l'Agora in Montreal, and also acts as Artistic Collaborator of the Orchestre Métropolitain. He is also a guest conductor with many Canadian orchestras. Nicolas Ellis was named Classical Revelation of the year 2018-2019 by Radio-Canada. More recently, he was awarded the Prix Goyer Mécénat Musica 2021.
Philippe Prud'Homme is a Quebec pianist and composer. He won seven First Prizes at the Canadian Music Competition including the Grand Prize in 2016. That same year, he was named by CBC Music as one of the 30 hot classical musicians under 30. A composer himself, Philippe writes music for concert and theater.
To close the Grand Piano Mélodînes season, Nicolas Ellis and Philippe Prud'Homme will take us to the Apotheosis of Dance, for piano four hands, by interpreting works by Johannes Brahms, Samuel Barber, Prud’Homme and, Sergei Rachmaninov.
