Gaza and Western Denial

Show •

Date

November 12, 2024

1 performance

Place Salle Claude-Léveillée

Past event

The West’s denial of the tragedy in Palestine is a disturbing reflection of the incoherence, duplicity, and delusion that plague our collective consciousness. For more than 75 years, the relentless loss of Palestinian lives has been portrayed as an abstraction — mere background noise to be ignored or dismissed as just another news item.

The leaders of the free world extol the right to liberty and self-determination, so why do they retreat into shameful silence as these same principles are ceaselessly trampled in Palestine?

Michel Faubert is known for his collections and contemporary adaptations of legendary laments and fairy tales. He moves just as easily through the world of folklore as he does through Montreal’s underground scene, which he has frequented extensively.
