Flamenco Festival on a Summer Night

Théâtre Maisonneuve August 25, 2024

Flamenco Festival on a summer night was created to bring joy to flamenco fans and the Montreal public, as well as to say goodbye to the summer season.

Sevillian dancer Federico Nuñez is the special guest of the evening. A master of flamenco dancing, he seduces us with his virile presence, his aesthetic movements, his elegance and the powerful energy of his dance. He will open the program with a choreographed tribute to Leonard Cohen.

Musical direction will be provided by maestro Andrés Parodi, a virtuoso flamenco guitarist who will be accompanied by the sounds of Laura Cadabon's Argentine bandoneon; Ziya Tabassian's oriental percussion; Hanser Santos's flamenco cajon; Julie Rousseau's voice and piano; and the voice of Seville-based Spanish singer Carlos Lobo. You'll also enjoy a special performance by the Monteal Gypsy Orchestra under the direction of the virtuoso violinist Carmen Piculeata, featuring appearances by guest artists.

This flamenco show will also pay tribute, through poetry and song, to the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca, Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, and Montreal poet Emile Nelligan.

A musical journey to the roots of flamenco, sounds of the Orient, gypsy sounds from Eastern countries, Arab-Andalusian-Spanish and South America. A must-see evening for flamenco lovers!
