Described by Paco de Lucía as “one of the most beautiful flamenco voices of our time, a voice of sweetness that flows over everything,” Diego El Cigala is coming to the Maison symphonique de Montréal to present his latest project, Indestructible, in which he reinvents the sound of salsa.

At once sensual and raw, reminiscent of the salsa of the 1970s, Indestructible takes you on a voyage to numerous cities throughout the world closely connected with the history of salsa (Cali, Havana, Punta Cana, and San Juan, as well as Miami and New York). The passionate and proud El Cigala pays tribute to this musical style created from blending Afro-Cuban music with elements of jazz, R&B, and soul, echoing legends like Hector Lavoe and La Sonora Ponceña, Tito Puente and Celia Cruzor, or Tito Allen and Ray Barretto, who made salsa famous.

Seamlessly melding the traditional sounds of his Spanish Gitano heritage with the intoxicating rhythms and melodies of salsa, Diego El Cigala bestows the required magic and theatricality with his powerful, expressive, and strong yet vulnerable voice.
