The Montreal Bach Festival officially opens with one of JS Bach's most accomplished works, the Mass in B.
A musical monument, this work presents Bach at the height of his art and invites us on a journey where pure beauty reigns supreme. On the podium is conductor Leonardo García Alarcón, a world expert on the Baroque and a passionate lover of Bach's music. "If it weren't for Bach, I wouldn't be a musician [...]," he said when he was very young... Add to that the Festival's renowned soloists, orchestra and choir, and you've got all the ingredients for a breathtaking overture! Intensity, power and majesty!
