The OSM devotes its final concert of the season to French composer Hector Berlioz (1803-1869), pairing the Symphonie fantastique – one of the major classics of the orchestral repertoire – with the lyric monodrama Lélio. Together, these autobiographical works form the two-part “Épisode dans la vie d’un artiste” (Episode in the Life of an Artist): Lélio was originally composed as a sequel to the Symphonie fantastique, although joint performances of the two are now rare. This vibrant homage to Berlioz marks the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death, and features French actor Lambert Wilson in the role of Lélio.
