Tenth-anniversary show at the Place des Arts!
Choeur Baobab travels the globe with its international repertoire of a cappella gospel and world music. In both traditional and modern style, about twenty Baobab singers, under the direction of Claude-Marie Landré, invite you on a journey of multi-cultural song. Haiti, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Sweden are just some of the countries you will visit through their musical rhythm and colour!
In celebration of their anniversary, Choeur Baobab will have the pleasure of performing with artists from musically rich and diverse backgrounds, including Vero Bollywood (Bollywood dance), Réal Gagné (podorhythmie, or French-Canadian foot percussion, and traditional Quebec music), and African-music ambassadors Gotta Lago (vocals and guitar) and Mohamed N’Diaye (multiple instruments). Also accompanying the celebration will be percussionist Eric Tremblay, who has been with Choeur Baobab from the beginning.
Claude-Marie Landré has been directing Choeur Baobab since its creation. She studied at Université de Montréal and learned orchestral conducting at Durham Cathedral in England. For the last fifteen years, she has been recognized as a director of choirs with a wide variety of repertoires, from major classical choral works to world music.
