Carmen I Bizet

Concert Opera · Grand Canon
Dates

May 2 to 10, 2026

4 performances

There is no “opera” without “Carmen”, and there is no more potent Carmen than that which pours forth from the masterful baton of Jean-Marie Zeitouni and the Orchestre Métropolitain.

This production will explore the full emotional range of Bizet’s tempestuous masterpiece — its beauty, its intensity, its truth — alongside a cast of operatic luminaries, including Rihab Chaieb, Arturo Chacón-Cruz, Magali Simard Galdès, and Ethan Vincent.

Carmen, enchantress of Seville, casts her spell over all who encounter her. Don José is no exception. A loyal soldier, he surrenders his post, morals, and soul as he is ravaged by the flames of obsession. When Carmen’s attention turns to the daring bullfighter Escamillo, José’s jealousy takes a dark and fatal turn. Free in love and in death, our legendary heroine meets her fate as only Carmen can — fearlessly.
