In this new creation, choreographer and performer Cai Glover merges poetry and dance to create two characters, one the antithesis of the other. This solo seeks to establish a connection between the two, sometimes in complicity, sometimes in disorder, through contemporary gestures that symbolize the fluctuation of our personalities.
Play Dead explores the various rites of passage we are inescapably subjected to in life. In a fancy decor inspired by everyday life, the piece showcases how we navigate our social relationships and daily routines. Strange situations and supernatural interactions arise between characters while they search for a common sense of belonging and stability. An ode to youth, its doubts, imperfect ideals, fleeting happiness and pure exaltations, Play Dead drives us to be filled with wonder by the beauty of a twisted reality, rendered meaningless with the passage of time.
