The first performance of Art took place on 28 October, 1994, performed by Pierre Vaneck (Marc), Fabrice Luchini (Serge), and Pierre Arditi (Yvan), in a staging by Patrice Kerbrat at the Comédie des Champs-Élysées.
Art questions what makes a work of art valuable, while underlining that the appreciation of art is deeply subjective and can vary considerably from one person to another. But is it really the art that is at the heart of this piece? Would this not be rather a pretext to explore the complex arcana of friendship. Because finally, in friendship, what really connects us to each other? Can we really turn our ego down to save our friendships?
