To mark Place des Arts’ 60th anniversary, the Entretiens arts et société series is giving four artists the opportunity to share their special memories of Place des Arts over the past six decades.
Multidisciplinary artist Michel Lemieux, former principal dancer at Grands Ballets Canadiens and Artistic Director of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec Anik Bissonnette, conductor Nicolas Ellis, and actor Denis Bernard will be joining us for the occasion. All four artists have trod the boards of our various performance halls or have created shows here. Denis Bernard is performing the lead role in Salle de nouvelles at Duceppe, Nicolas Ellis will be in the orchestra pit in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier for The Marriage of Figaro presented by the Opéra de Montréal, and Michel Lemieux is one of the artists featured in the Pionniers numériques exhibition, presented in collaboration with the PHI Centre.
A Q&A session with the audience will follow the discussion!
While visiting us for the 60 ans de la Place des Arts : souvenirs d’artistes event, take the opportunity to see the exhibition Traversée artistique du temps—on the walls of the Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme—, which will take you on a journey through 60 years of Place des Arts history and stories.
Moderated by Catherine Perrin, Place des Arts’ Entretiens arts et société are free events, open to one and all. They feature lively discussions, inspired by shows and activities presented at Place des Arts, or by other topical issues.
The 60 ans de la Place des Arts : souvenirs d’artistes event is taking place as part of the Journées de la culture.
