The Young Patrons Committee
The Young Patrons Committee brings together young professionals who are passionate about the performing arts and want to raise their peers’ awareness of how important it is to take part in the cultural enrichment of our society.
The committee organizes an annual benefit event to raise funds to help the Fondation carry out its mission and contribute to Place des Arts’ Access to the Performing Arts program.
The Young Patrons Committee’s commitment specifically aims to support the Residencies and Co-productions Program as part of the Access to the Performing Arts Program. This Program supports artists in their research, experimentation and creation work. Every year, about ten artists and companies benefit from nearly 200 days of residence at Place des Arts. Some of them are also supported in their creation process through a co-production approach.
Some of the works created through these residencies have today achieved fame well beyond our borders, and have been presented in many countries as part of festivals and international tours.
Thanks to the engagement of the young patrons, this year, fourteen artists benefited the Residencies and Co-productions Program, including theatre actor Mani Soleymanlou (Orange Noyée) for his play 8, choreographer Hélène Blackburn (Cas Public) for her show 9 and artistic director Patricia Bergeron for the show Mwana et le secret de la tortue (Théâtre À l’Envers).
Rentrée Nocturne: the annual Young Patrons Committee benefit event
To support the Residencies and Co-productions Program as part of Place des Arts’ Access to the Performing Arts Program, the committee organizes an annual benefit event called Rentrée Nocturne, one of Montréal’s biggest gatherings of young professionals aged 25 to 40 in support of the arts. Since it was created in 2010, the committee has raised over $265,000. The seventh edition of the event takes place September 22, 2017.
