Maison symphonique January 14, 2020

Schubert composed his brilliant Symphony no. 3 at 18. Soon thereafter, he discovered Rossini, then a favourite of Viennese audiences. It comes as no great surprise, therefore, that Schubert’s Symphony no. 6 features a few theatrical effects and humorous touches alla Rossini.

Rossini, Il barbiere di Siviglia, «Largo al factotum»
