Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the multiple aspects of Jean Derome concert scheduled on Novembre 25, 2020 in front of a live audience (originally planned for April 11, 2020) has been canceled. Ticket holders will be reimbursed directly. However, the concert will be captured and available for live streaming on November 25 at 8 pm.

L’Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal (ONJ) welcomes multi-instrumentalist and composer Jean Derome. He will conduct the interpretation of a new work commissioned by the ONJ, as well as that of pieces from the repertoire of Duke Ellington & Billy Strayhorn. For some of these, he will even choose the role of the singer, not as a crooner looking after his own character, but rather as a demiurge, a craftsman aware of the sacred character of the sound world he generates. His new piece announces a clever response to the paradox of composed jazz. How could a master of improvisation restrict the top flight soloists he has?
