Fadeout - Anne-Flore de Rochambeau, Montreal, 2014, 2015, Montreal premiere
Following artistic training in Paris, New York and Montreal, Anne-Flore de Rochambeau has presented her creations as independent choreographer since 2013, on the Montreal scene as well as in Toronto and France. At the same time, she has founded the Alt-Shift collective with choreographer Liliane Moussa, through which they develop in situ choreographic works such as Entrelacs, which was presented at FQD in 2015 before successfully touring in Montreal and surrounding areas. She returns for FQD’s 15th edition to present her newest creation, Fadeout. In a fierce battle against time, against oneself, a creature in search of body and abundance extricates itself from the void in order to feel alive, at the risk of losing itself to the excess of its desire. A reflection on our body-machine, which sometimes fails, breaks down, to the point of self-destruction.

MOVIDA - Elizabeth Suich, Montreal, 2012, 2014, 2015, World premiere
Elizabeth Suich, choreographer trained in contemporary dance, received the Prix du Public during FQD’s 10th edition for her piece Une Contre Vérité. Creating a bridge between Latin and contemporary dance, Elizabeth Suich plays with the codes of these disciplines, thus proposing greatly sensitive and unusually singular works. She places the Woman at the heart of her choreographic research and never ceases to redraw this silhouette. MOVIDA reveals itself as new artistic research, highlighting the richness of movement, as well as the innumerable choreographic possibilities.

We’ll Be Fine - MAYDAY, Mélanie Demers, Montreal, 2016, Montreal premiere
Montreal choreographer Mélanie Demers already presented her work at FQD with the Ottawa Dance Collective in 2016. In 2017, she invites dancers from Edmonton’s Good Women Dance Collective. We’ll Be Fine oscillates between extreme physicality, waiting and the void. Bordering hilarity or within the confines of tragedy, the protagonists defy the audience with an arrogance that does not reveal their fragility. We’ll Be Fine flirts with idleness, but latches onto a certain fervour betrayed by a sense of convivial juvenility. Transforming everything into a slogan, a hooking formula, the piece questions that which we choose to tell ourselves. And, as the end approaches, she increasingly questions that which we choose to do.
