Talk followed by a workshop-show

Florence Leclerc, a dancer and choreographer for more than 10 years, has explored various styles since her early days, ranging from social and Latino dance styles to flamenco. Trained in ballet and contemporary dance, she has maintained a special attachment to baladi.

In Debout (Standing up), she sets out to immerse us in a world where the elegance and sensuality of baladi blend with the fluid and dynamic movements of modern dance. Through a combination of irresolute swaying, brutal splits and falls, she seeks to explore the universal experience of being devastated in the face of adversity. These roller coasters of emotion that drag us down bring us, strangely, closer to ourselves and induce us to stand up.

The audience is invited to take part in the exchanges in this hybrid event crossing between workshop-lecture, master class and show. It fits in with the thematic series of the 19th Festival du Monde Arabe de Montréal: Songs of mutants, on the shores of Gibraltar.
