Mendelssohn nurtured respectful admiration for Bach, whose works he actively contritubed to revive. Both composers are reunited in a programme presented by the Borromeo Quartet, one of the most sought-after ensembles on the international stage. The fugue held no secrets for Bach; you will hear excerpts from his Well-Tempered Clavier as well as Mendelssohn’s highly charged Quartet no. 1, op. 44.
