De la poésie au slam

Awaken your students to the power of words!

The “De la poésie au slam” project introduces young people to writing slam poetry and performing written text. The art forms of poetry and slam poetry teach young people how to play with words and express themselves freely.

School levels: High school 2 to 5 and Accueil intermediate and advanced

Educational Approach to the Project

Workshops and a performance give students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with poetry and slam poetry. Workshops immerse students in the creative process and provide them with the knowledge and tools related to the discipline. At the project’s conclusion, students will understand the work that an artist must accomplish before taking a performance to the stage.

  • A pedagogical kit
  • Two workshops with an artist-mediator present at the school
  • A show by the main artists at Place des Arts

Performance – Fol ouvrage (torcher des paillettes)

Fol Ouvrage (Torcher des paillettes) is a festive and thought-provoking literary show, stemming from a collaboration between artists Queen Ka and Amélie Prévost. Created during a two-person writing residency, this suite of poems is a feminist reflection on cohabitation: that of men and women, body and soul, conventions and transgressions. On stage, the two writer-performers do everything themselves, up to and including the sound mix and lighting. Combative and funny, they toss off truths with the same ease as throwing handfuls of confetti. Their oral literature is free of inhibitions, walking the thin line between theatre and poetry.
