In May 2007, the Festival de Théâtre des Amériques gave way to the Festival TransAmériques. Spectators are offered a cornucopia of theatre, dance, performance pieces, and other incredible, often unclassifiable art forms.

An international event celebrating new works in contemporary dance and theatre, the Festival TransAmériques combines disciplines and artistic trends under cohesive programming. The Festival presents exciting forms of the art of our era, featuring works by choreographers, writers, and directors. The only criterion is to present strong work, regardless of theme or place of origin. Marie-Hélène Falcon is its General and Artistic Director.

The Festival de Théâtre des Amériques and the Festival TransAmériques brought Peter Brooks, Tadeusz Kantor, Ariane Mnouchkine, Peter Sellars, Robert Wilson, and Alain Platel, to name but a few, to Canada for the first time. The FTA has also contributed to furthering local creativity by co-producing works by Robert Lepage, Gilles Maheux, Denis Marleau, Marie Brassard, and Sylvain Émard.
